Why I Love the Mile High City

If I were to venture a guess, I would bet most of our Origin readers are not aware of our Mile High office. With such a long-standing Oklahoma presence combined with the great people that built such a great company, I can see how our smaller branch office can be overshadowed. The reality is we have a fantastic group of engineers that have been engineering in the Denver area for the past 10 years. I ,myself, have enjoyed working for Wallace Engineering – Denver for 6 years now, so I thought I would share a few of the things I love about this city.

#1.  Marketing on the Slopes:  The links are great, but when the snow flies I prefer to network on a chair lift.  Interested? Let’s connect!

#2.  Rockies Games:  With the Rockies home-opener out of the way, it’s time to soak up some rays at the ball park. The best ones are an afternoon game, kids in daycare, and a lazy bike ride to the stadium…making sure to stop for brunch along the way.

#3.  Red Rocks:  I’ll have to admit, I’m not much of a concert fan but there is something special about watching a performance in this natural amphitheater.

#4.  Mountain Biking:  While it may be punishing to reach that peak, the views alone are worth it, but the real reward is the way back down.

#5.  Front Range Softball:  The cool evening air on your face and watching the setting sun over the Rockies…can’t beat it. It also helps that the Wall Aces run-ruled our opponent yesterday.

#6.  Sledding at Ruby Hill:  I have toddlers, so I have to ride with them…for supervision, of course.

#7.  Washington Park:  This is such a great park with such a great vibe, two lakes and 2.5 miles of trails with great views of the Rockies. Thousands of people on the weekends and lawn volley ball courts are set up for as far as the eye can see.

#8.  Union Station:  Denver is currently revitalizing this gem. Riding the light rail to a downtown event ends here and eventually they will have a light rail line that extends to the airport.

#9.  Old South Pearl Street:  A local favorite, with great locally-owned restaurants and boutiques with a fantastic farmers market on Sundays.

#10.  Après Ski:  A great tiring day on the mountain deserves a relaxing sun soaked drink at the base of the mountain.
