Designed by the world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, the $45 million Music Pavilion is a highly sculptured design element that serves as a focal point for the Chicago’s Millennium Park. Wallace Engineering provided the structural design for the unique panel system. The twisting and hairpin turns of the “petals” consist of over 700 panels – and no two are alike. The panels, ranging from 4 to 8 foot in width and 6 to 24 foot in length, are made from aluminum plates or fins, and were built to profiles defined by Gehry’s computer model.
